The lamp turns off after only about 7 - 10 minutes of use, waits for three minutes, and then turns on again for another 7 minutes or so. This has happened on both the original model we ordered early in 2011, and now it is happening with its replacement. We checked to make sure the air vents were uncovered and the lamp was properly seated. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful  I fixed the design flaw myself, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Apollo Horizon 2 Overhead Projector, 15 x 14 x 27 Inches, Open Head (V16000M) (Office Product) I had the same problem with the projector but it worked for about 45 minutes before it shut off, then I would have to turn it off and wait a few minutes and then turn it back on and it would last a few more minutes before it shut off again. I very quickly figured out that the fan is an exhaust fan with an exhaust vent that is about 4 1/2 inches wide by 5 inches high. On the opposite side, there is an air intake vent that is only 2 inches wide by 1 inch tall which is not large enough to get enough air flow over the bulb to keep it from getting hot enough to heat up the sheet metal enclosure around the bulb to which the thermal fuse is attached. When the sheet metal enclosure gets hot enough it causes the thermal fuse to open which shuts off the bulb. I knew that it needed a larger opening for the air intake so I took my drill with a 3/8 inch drill bit and drilled a few holes (about 12 in a 4 hole wide by 3 hole high grid pattern) in the side just above the original air intake vent...
